Fellowship for Emerging Leaders
The AJC-Mimouna Michael Sachs Fellowship forEmerging Leaders is a joint partnership between ACCESS, American JewishCommittee’s young professional division, and the Association Mimouna, is a six-month program focused on expanding understanding of Jewish culture in North Africa and Moroccan culture in Israel, and building on the resumed diplomatic ties between the two countries to promote more robust people-to-people engagement in the MiddleEast and North Africa. The Sachs Fellowship hosts virtual meetings to study topics of mutual concern, including the history of Jewish life in Morocco, Arab perspectives on theHolocaust, the role of religion in conflict and its resolution, and storytelling as a tool for diplomacy. The Moroccan,American, and Israeli Fellows build upon their virtual experiences throughout a ten-day mission to Morocco and Israel with regular dialogue regarding their unique identities, policy priorities, and personal interests.

Highlights from the joint mission to Israel and Morocco include:
• Visits to Rabat, Casablanca, and Marrakech where Sachs Fellows met with more than a dozen top U.S.and Israeli diplomats, business leaders, interfaith advocates, policy analysts, Jewish community members, and young scholars.
• Visits to Jerusalem, Yeruham, Rahat, and Tel Aviv, where Sachs Fellows held 10 meetings with senior diplomats, members of the Moroccan-Jewish community, and high-tech entrepreneurs.
