6th Edition of Moroccan Jewish Days

The Rebuilding Our Homes project organized The Moroccan Jewish Days under the theme of “The Mellah: A Shared Space” took place in Essaouira at Bayt Dakira on the 13th of June 2021.

The panelists in the conference were all academics and specialists in the field of Moroccan Judaism along with being experts in the Mellahs’ history; Dr. Mina Lmghari, Dr. Lamghibchi Omar, Dr. ZhorRhihel, Dr. Claris Haraboun, Dr. Mohammed Hatimi, Dr. Peter Geffen.

The event came to highlight the Mellahs and promote the shared memoryand history of these special places. The conference hosted more than 80 participants from which were participants from the Mellahs of Rabat, Fez and Essaouira, along with Al Akhawayn University students, Polytechnic Mohammed VI University, Association Mimouna members and other participants. The conference was followed by a tour of the city’s Jewish site s for the participating youth.
